Types of Training
Different types of training are designed based on actual requirements.
1. Induction Level Training Programme
In KSEB Ltd, induction-level training is given to all the entry cadres, including field training, as per the Board Orders
Assistant Engineer (Civil)-15 Days of classroom training and 30 days of field training
Divisional Accountant (Newly Recruited)- 14 days with 6 months of field training,
Sub Engineer -49 days,
Cashier - 5 days,
Meter Reader – 3 days,
Electricity worker – 15 days in 3 phases (5 days each).
2. Orientation Training Programmes:
Orientation Training Programmes are given to all categories on promotion up to the level of Executive Engineers.
3. Refresher Level Training Programmes:
Refresher Training in different areas is being given to all categories as per the specially designed training calendar and standard syllabus. Training are also given on a need basis.
4. Management & Supervisory Training
Management Development Programmes are being arranged for the officers up to the Deputy Chief Engineer level at PETARC, Moolamattom. Supervisory Development Programme for the Supervisory cadre is conducted at all the training centres.
5. Training on Commercial Accounting Systems:
These types of training are imparted to all categories based on requirements.
Induction Cum Statutory Training as per CEA Regulation are conducted for Assistant Engineer (Electrical)-66 Days Plus Field Training
6. Computer-Based Training
To keep in pace with the escalating computerization activities in various fields of KSEBL, need-based computer training is given to all staff and officers. These trainings include specialized programs on LT Billing Software - Oruma NET, SARAS Accounting Software, HRIS Software, Supply Chain Management Software, Customer Care Center Software, e-Tendering, ERP (Samagra) etc in addition to programs on computer literacy.
7. Statutory Training Programme (Generation):
This 15 months training programme for the operation of Generating Stations, is conducted as per clause 6(sub-clause 3) of the Central Electricity Authority (Measures relating to Safety & Electric Supply) Regulations 2010. This programme is imparted to about 20 to 25 Assistant Engineers at PETARC, Moolamattom through fifteen months of in-house/practical and field visit training programme as per the syllabus approved by the Central Electricity Authority. Ten batches have already completed this training.
8. Statutory Training Programme (Transmission):
This 10 months statutory training programme on Transmission is being conducted as per clause 7 (3) (syllabus in schedule II/Part 2) of Central Electricity Regulations 2010. The training schedule consists of 10 modules of 8 days duration each month. The course covers all aspects of Power Transmission Systems, Load Dispatch systems, Substation Design & Construction, SCADA, Relay & Protection and Management topics. This includes tutorial sessions at PETARC, implant sessions at major Substations, Load Dispatch Stations, Power Equipment, Testing and Relay wing. The first batch has completed this training.
9. SAFETY Training programmes:
To achieve a high level of safety consciousness and zero accidents, all employees are periodically trained on safety standards and procedures to eliminate the risk of injury to themselves and the public. Keeping given the above, several safety programmes are being conducted at all the training centres of the Board.
10. National Training Programmes
KSEBL has been systematically conducting National training programmes for the C&D group employees with the financial assistance of the Ministry of Power, Government of India from 2009 onwards. KSEBL has executed MoU up to 2022 with Rural Electrification Corporation (REC), the nodal agency for implementing the programmes under the DDUGJY scheme. As part of the Capacity Building Programmes under the R-APDRP scheme of the Ministry of Power, Government of India, KSEBL has also executed MoA with Power Finance Corporation (PFC), the nodal agency for implementing the scheme and conducted programmes from 2010 onwards.
11. Training of Trainers Programme
Training of Trainers Programme is being given to capable hands as part of developing Trainers to share the best practices and learning within the utility.
12. Other programmes
Some programmes are conducted to cater to the training needs of other organizations by sharing the expertise of KSEBL in various fields. Training programmes are also conducted for outside organizations on a payment basis. Our clients include Thrissur Corporation, Polytechnic College, Kalamassey, Faculty members and postgraduate students of Engineering colleges etc.
UNDER EXTERNAL TRAINING PROVISION
As part of utilizing the expertise of other reputed training institutes, KSEBL deputes its employees to premium training institutions like ESCI, Hyderabad, CIRE Hyderabad, CPRI Bangalore, NPTIs, PSTI, Bangalore, PMI Noida, TNEB Madurai etc as per the specific guidelines.
Officers are also nominated for specialized programmes conducted by Institutes like IMG, Thiruvananthapuram, College of Engineering, Trivandrum, Energy Management Centre, etc.,
Selected employees are also trained in hotline maintenance at Hotline Training Centre, (NPTI Bangalore). Certification training for LD operators is also arranged periodically at SRLDC, Bangalore.
An MoU has been signed with NTPC School of Business (NSB), NOIDA on 09.05.2022 for 2 years for continuous learning and training programs for enhancing the competencies and skillsets of KSEBL officials, with a special focus on broad techno-managerial domains as identified by KSEBL. Training for 3 batches consisting of 30 Middle Level and Senior Level Engineers each were conducted on managerial skills.
The Officers, who are intending to be considered for participating in external training programmes, relevant to their job can submit the duly filled nomination forms to HRD Cell, through their concerned Chief Engineer at least two weeks in advance. The details of forthcoming programmes are published on our website every month.
