CHINNAR SHEP
Background:
Chinnar Small Hydro Electric Project with an installed capacity 24 MW is located in Konnathady & Vathikudy panchayats of Idukki Taluk in Idukki District. The Scheme is designed as a runoff river scheme proposed for utilizing the power potential of Perinjankutty River in Periyar Basin. The drainage area of Perinjankutty river is about 410 km² at its confluence with Periyar at Panamkutty. The upper catchment of Perinjankutty river is diverted (Kallar – Erattayar diversion) to Idukki reservoir as part of the Idukki Augmentation scheme stage III. The Chinnar SHEP is conceived in the free catchment of Perinjankutty river in the downstream of Kallar – Erattayar diversions.
Project Approval:
KSEBL accorded Revised Administrative Sanction on 25.04.2017 for Rs. 269.87 Cr. at 2017 price level.
Phase- I- Construction of tunnel, intake structure, surge, LPP and weir:
The work was awarded to M/s. Paulose George Construction Company Pvt. Ltd -Aryacon Consortium, Kochi” and agreement executed on 20.04.2018.
The phase I was completed on 31.12.2022.
Phase- II- Construction of Power House, Valve House, Tail race, Switch yard, Hydro Mechanical and Electro Mechanical works:
Contract for the Civil & E&M Work:
Civil work awarded to M/s. Paulose George Construction Company Pvt. Ltd – M/s. Aryacon Contractors & Engineers – M/s. Flovel Energy private Ltd Consortium on 09.06.2022 and agreement executed on 22.07.2022.
Agreed PAC Rs. 116.65 Crores
Actual date of commencement - 08.07.2022
Official date of completion - 08.07.2024
Progress achieved - 7.90 %
The project is expected to be completed on 08.07.2024.
