Induction-Based Wireless Electric Vehicle Charging in Kerala Roads: The proposed pilot project aims to implement induction-based wireless electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure on the roads of Kerala. The initiative will be led by KSEBL, the State Nodal Agency with pan Kerala Power and Charging Station network in a fully integrated manner. This will foster the widespread adoption of electric vehicles, reduce carbon emissions, and promote sustainable transportation across the state. This project seeks to establish a robust, efficient, and convenient charging network that will support the growing EV market in Kerala.
Alternative Electrified motorways: 1) Catenary system with overhead wires 2) Conductive charging utilizing a metal plate on the vehicle along National Highways.  Being the State power utility with electrical infrastructure available all across the State and along National Highways, only KSEBL can implement such alternatives.
Green Rapid EV Charging Hub: A rapid charging hub with solar canopy having 10nos. 120kW dual gun chargers and 120kW Solar Canopy is planned opposite to Kaloor Metro Station. The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) has sanctioned 1.5 Crore rupees for setting up of this demonstration project. A project proposal with layout drawing is attached.
A pilot Vehicle to Grid (V2G) project proposal has been entrusted with KSEBL by Government of Kerala, through ISGF (Indian Smart Grid forum).
After the eV Conclave e WATTS 22 conducted by KSEBL, a handbook has been compiled on EV sector with present scenario and way forward.
A proposal is put forth to create a SPV in E mobility sector with our own staff.
Destination Chargers - Thousands of Low power AC Chargers -3.3kW AC, 7kW AC is proposed in the premises of all Government entities. KSEBL has already identified 2500 Govt premises across Kerala.

3. Objectives:
The primary objectives of the project are as follows:
Establish a state-of-the-art induction-based wireless EV charging network along major roads and highways in Kerala.
Enhance the adoption of electric vehicles by providing a reliable and convenient charging infrastructure.
Reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainable transportation alternatives in Kerala.
Facilitate the integration of renewable energy sources to power the wireless charging infrastructure.
4. Scope:
The project will encompass the following key components:
a) Site Selection: Identify strategic locations along major roads and highways for installing  wireless charging pads.
b) Technology Deployment: Install induction-based wireless charging infrastructure at selected locations, ensuring compatibility with various electric vehicle models.
c) Integration with Grid: Integrate the wireless charging network with the existing power grid infrastructure managed by the Kerala State Electricity Board.
d) Pilot Testing: Conduct rigorous pilot testing to evaluate the efficiency, safety, and reliability of the wireless charging technology.
e) Public Awareness: Launch an awareness campaign to educate the public about the benefits of EV adoption and the induction-based wireless charging system.
5. Implementation Plan:
The project will be executed in multiple phases:
Phase 1: Feasibility Study and Site Selection
Conduct a comprehensive feasibility study to assess the technical and economic viability of the project.
Identify suitable locations for the initial deployment of wireless charging pads.
Phase 2: Infrastructure Deployment and Testing
Procure and install induction-based wireless charging systems at the selected locations.
Conduct extensive testing and quality assurance checks on the charging infrastructure.
Phase 3: Pilot Run and Public Awareness
Commence a pilot run of the wireless charging network to gather real-world data and user feedback.
Launch a public awareness campaign to promote the benefits of electric vehicles and wireless charging technology.
6. Budget:
A detailed budget outlining the cost of equipment, infrastructure, testing, personnel, and awareness campaigns will be provided in the final proposal document.
7. Project Timeline:
The project is estimated to span 12 months from initiation to completion. The timeline will be refined in the detailed proposal.
