Public Charging Stations & Pole Mounted Charging Stations

KSEBL is the designated nodal agency for the installation of electric vehicle charging stations as per the EV policy 2019 of the Government of Kerala.  KSEBL has installed 63 DC fast charging stations for four-wheelers in all districts and 1166 pole-mounted charging stations for auto-rickshaws and two-wheelers in all constituencies in Kerala. In the first phase, to create public awareness about e-Mobility, charging stations had been set up on a pilot basis at six locations in corporation areas across the state. These stations which consist of a 60kW CCS2 charger & a 20kW DC001 charger, became operational in November 2020.

Further, the DC fast charger stations are equipped with a roof and seats for the convenience of the users. When KSEBL started setting up of charging stations in 2020, there were very few electric vehicles in the State and the stations were not commercially viable. Therefore, as a nodal agency KSEBL installed the stations on its land to spread the charging stations rapidly throughout the state in line with Govt. guidelines. Now the scenario has changed dramatically in the state and more and more investors are stepping forward to participate in the installation of charging stations. The first joint venture Solarized charging station has been set up with Vadakkarapathy block panchayat in Chittoor, Palakkad.

                                                                                                                                                              

Hence, KSEBL is in the process of empaneling agencies for setting up charging stations for public and government entities. KSEBL has already developed an integrated eMobility App (KEMapp) for the convenience of users to access and make payments at chargers in Kerala and has deployed nodal officers for eMobility in every district of Kerala for faster response to consumer complaints. The official fleet of KSEBL includes 71 eCars.
