"KSEBL's Public Relations Department: Bridging the Communication Gap"

1. Mass Communication and Advertisement Wing:

  • This wing is responsible for orchestrating media campaigns, advertisements, and statutory notifications.
  • In the fiscal year 2021-22, it successfully executed five distinct media campaigns across print, electronic, and new media platforms.
  • Highlights of their work included airing nine video advertisements and four L-band advertisements on major television news channels, broadcasting 15 radio advertisements on FM channels, and placing one advertisement on All India Radio.
  • They also published nine display advertisements in newspapers and an additional ten in other publications, while distributing two advertisements through new media.
  • The team further contributed by producing 28 episodes of a weekly video news magazine titled "Spandanam," comprehensively covering all activities at KSEBL.
  • Notably, the wing published 487 tender notices in newspapers and 15 statutory notices in the Government Gazette, all managed within a budget of Rs. 2.38 lakhs.

2. Social Media Wing:

  • This wing actively engages with the public through multiple social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.
  • KSEBL's Facebook page, with an impressive following of 5.7 lakhs, stands as one of the most popular among public sector undertakings in Kerala.
  • Daily, they share videos and posters on a variety of subjects, including Electrical Safety, Energy Conservation, Customer Care, 1912 Call Center, Services at Doorsteps, and Ease of Doing Business.
  • Valuable input from the public received through messages and comments, is thoughtfully forwarded to the relevant departments for action.

3. Event Management, Hospitality, and Front Office Wing:

  • Beyond digital and print media, this segment of the PR Department excels in organizing conferences, press meets, and other events when required.
  • They leverage exhibitions during festivals and trade fairs to showcase KSEBL's achievements and educate the public on the responsible usage of electricity, electrical safety, and e-initiatives.
  • An event that garnered significant media attention was the "Earth Drive," which celebrated the 65th Anniversary of KSEBL by flagging off 65 Electric Vehicles on March 7th, 2022.
  • Another notable initiative was the two-day "Cartoon Camp," held from March 23rd to 24th, in collaboration with the Kerala Cartoon Academy, focusing on the power sector.

4. Other Activities:

  • The PR Department also effectively manages the front office of Vydyuthi Bhavanam in Thiruvananthapuram.
  • They are responsible for organizing farewell functions for employees retiring from the headquarters, providing a memorable send-off to dedicated individuals who have contributed to KSEBL's success.

In addition to these responsibilities, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) serves as the State Public Information Officer to the Chairman and Managing Director, as well as other Directors of KSEBL. The PRO also plays a crucial role as the nodal officer for the Malayalam Official Language within KSEBL.
